The Round The Forts Race is coming…
For those of you that enjoy combining your racing with a bit of adventure the club’s annual long distance race will take place on Sun 27 Aug.
The race starts in Stokes Bay and then the course will take competitors towards the Isle of Wight before going round one or more Forts and returning to the safety of Stokes Bay. Stokes Bay sailors have generally got a healthy respect for the Solent and enjoy managing the risks of sailing at sea and we would ask that all competitors in this race carefully read the Notice of Race and ensure they have the following equipment:
· towing rope at least 6m in length, and at least 6mm diameter and of adequate strength to allow towing from a rescue boat,
· a mobile phone or radio,
· safety knife,
· spare rope to carry out emergency repairs.
· Catamarans shall carry a righting rope.
· Attention is drawn to Standard Club Sailing Instructions 18.2 re Personal Buoyancy.
