Stokes Bay: A Very Social Sailing Club

Hello, my name is Lynda Reed and I head up the social team at Stokes Bay Sailing Club.

Due to Covid-19 we are unable at this stage to put together a full, in-person, social plan for 2021, however we are currently working on a tentative plan and watching government guidance regarding lifting of restrictions and what this means to SBSC and to our social program!

Ordinarily we run a variety of events throughout the year with the aim of appealing to our diverse range of ages and tastes. Working closely with Jo McCarthy in the galley we run informal & formal dinners, suppers, summer BBQ’s, sailing talks, quiz nights and live music events!

Our bar and galley are open each Sunday throughout the year for breakfast and lunch. From April, as the Wednesday night sailing series starts, the bar is buzzing with sailing spectators and après-sailing eating and drinking! From the end of May until September we are also open each Friday evening with a variety of on and off water fun. On selected Friday evenings throughout the summer we offer Adult Sailing nights, where expert tuition is provided to beginner and improver sailors.

All sailing members benefit from our social programme, however we also offer “Social Membership” which enables non-sailors to enjoy the events and spectacular views on offer at SBSC.
