Coronavirus Update

Dear Members,

Last night we held a Management Committee Meeting, with all committee members in attendance, to discuss the evolving situation we find ourselves in due to Coronavirus. We hope that you are all taking precautions appropriate to your situation and we wish you and your families a healthy few weeks and months.

We have followed RYA and Government advice and are pleased to give an update as to how Stokes Bay Sailing Club will operate during this period.

Sailing

We are pleased to share that your boats will be available to access for individual sailing. Please do come and use them to enjoy some time on the water as the days get longer and we get more warmth from the sunshine.

The Club House

The ground floor of the sailing club will be open and members can use the changing rooms. We ask that members

  • Come sailing
  • Wash their hands following government guidance
  • Stay away if they have any symptoms or underlying health conditions
  • Avoid visiting the administration office in person
  • Keep the front door closed (please bring your key to the club)
  • Shower at home if possible
  • Carry out normal maintenance in the compound

Organised Sailing

There will be no organised sailing club activities until April 30th unless something changes. This date will be reviewed at the Management Committee Meeting on Monday 13th April and may be extended based on RYA and government guidelines.

This includes

  • Sunday racing
  • Wednesday racing
  • Cadet sailing
  • Adult sailing

Duties

All duties planned for the period of suspended activities will be postponed and rescheduled for a later date.

The Galley, Bar and Socials

There will be no galley, bar or socials until April 30th.  The cancelled socials include the Easter Egg hunt, Dan Vincent’s big quiz, the ECSP talk about the movement of material around the bay.

Open Meetings

The Skiff open meeting will be cancelled and hopefully rescheduled.

The committee have their next meeting on Monday 13th April and will update you all then, if not before.

Thank you in advance for supporting the Committee and Members by following these guidelines.

Best wishes from the Management Committee

Grace, Tim, Bob, Anna, Chloe, Karen, Lynda, Louise, Jo, Dan, Peter, Julian and Debbie.
